In 2022 the new battery cell 4680 will be in the Model Y and Cyber Pickup and Semi truck. Pre sales of the CYBER truck are at about 1 million orders.

In late 2021 Tesla said they will open their Super Charging to all Electric vehicles with an adapter. This will give Tesla funding for double the number of Super Chargers.

2021 September after a 5 to 1 split Tesla stock in 2020 the STOCK is flying high at over $750 a share. As I always tell people don't buy a Tesla buy the stock 1st. They from the profits you can get a Tesla.

A New Tesla model 2 also names model C Compact may come in 2022 or 3 . It will be priced in the 20's, have 150 to 200 mile range. Then EVeryone can own a Tesla.

Well the model 3 has been here for (JAN 2018)months. They started with the high end options but the $35K version will be available in April of 2019. Their sales numbers are doing great. They have outsold all other electrics put together.

Jan 2021-The Tesla model 3 is the best selling car of any type in the World!

This site is for all of us who want to own a Tesla Electric Vehicle but have to own a Nissan LEAF, FORD Focus EV, SPARK EV,E-Golf ,MiEV , Smart-ED or even an electric bicycle until we can afford to move up to the Tesla. The Model 3 is being delivered to employees July  2017 !!! Others will be soon before the end of 2017.

Tesla is building the Tesla Model 3 in 2017  that cost about $35K for the 220 miles version before incentives so we won't have too long to wait but it sure seems like a long time. Many of us may even drive a Hybrid since it's the best we can do. It doesn't matter what you drive or even if you take the bus or walk. We all want to own a Tesla.

Some want to own a Tesla because it's fast. Some because it doesn't use a drop of gas or OIL. Others want one just because they are so good looking and SAFE . Whatever the reason this is YOUR website. Keep planning and dreaming and we can all make it come true.

I can't afford a Tesla yet in 2012 so I bought $30,000 of their stock in 2012 for about $32 a share. I think with the future profits I can buy their new Tesla model 3 in 2015 and have a few bucks left over. Time will tell. In July 2014 it's up to $230 a share so far.

March 31, 2016 = According to a Tweet put out by Tesla CEO Elon Musk, the reservation tally in 24 hours for the Model 3 hit 180,000.

Oct 2018 The model Y CUV based on the 3 came in 2020.

This comes as great news for everyone that was hyped about the potential Model Y crossover a while back. For those who aren’t familiar with it, the Model Y will be an all-electric crossover that’s quite likely to be even more popular than the Model 3– a car that saw like half a million people put down a $1,000 deposit long before it ever reached production.

The Model Y will likely be revealed to the public in March 2019 and this makes that timeline quite feasible. According to several sources, the company is aiming for early 2020 as the production date. From what scarce information we have gathered so far, it is expected for the Model Y to slide-in just somewhere Model 3 and the Model S, perhaps in the $45,000-range for the base version. According to the recent internet rumor mill, the vehicle will utilize the Model 3 chassis, dispensing away with the falcon wing doors found on the Model X SUV (Sports Utility Vehicle) luxury family hauler.

In a nutshell, we’re looking forward to an eventful Spring of 2019, where Tesla hopefully reveals not only the Model Y crossover but also, the much-discussed pickup truck as well. Hopefully, this puts Tesla alongside the legacy carmakers, who offer upwards of 7-8 models, and does away with the skewed perception of the company as just a technology maker. Furthermore, that whole tongue-in-cheek premise of the model range listed as S3XY, doesn’t sound too bad as well.

Jan 26th, 2013- I've learned the new blue star Model 3 will not be available until 2016. This is so Tesla can keep making profits and have their stock rise before they start any more big projects. Their stock is doing really well. They are profitable now in Jan 2013 and have production up to 400 Tesla S cars a month. They may push that to 600 a month.

The good news is that the 2016 Tesla model 3 has a 300+ mile range on a charge. It's a small wait to get a car that is even better. Also if you buy their stock now it could double or triple by then and pay for your new car.

Their Tesla X mid sized SUV will be out in late 2014 and they are still sold out with a over 1 year waiting list for the Tesla S.  Their factory has room for 90% more production. It sure looks like this is the major automaker for the 21st century !

+March 31 st-Firm Tesla model 3 orders can be placed.

 August 2013 Elon Musk said=

Looking further down the road, Musk said that the next-gen Tesla vehicle, the long-rumored $35,000 (without any subsidies) EV, should be a compelling option with a 200-mile range. That vehicle is still quite far away – he wondered aloud how his company might need more battery cells than the laptop industry does if it's making a half-million cars a year – but at least his automotive competition now has targets to shoot for if they want to beat Tesla in the longer-range EV game .

MY Note it is due in 2015 ! That's quite far away for a fast moving company like Tesla!

September 2013 , production of the S keeps going up. ,Super Charger locations at 21 with more coming every week, Safety testing gave Tesla the highest in history. stock price is $160+ for over 400% gain in 1 year and still strong. Rumors of a Tesla T truck and other models too.

Oct 2013 Elon Musk gave an update =(I will sign on as soon as they take orders)

The longer-term question, though, is when the less expensive sedan will arrive and though Musk provided hints, Tesla is still not ready to answer the question.”Right now the 3rd generation car is just sketches,” he said of the vehicle some are calling Model E, which Musk has said will go 200 miles on a single charge. The promise of a larger battery option, while perhaps hoped for, was news as was some more detailed timing. “I think the first prototype of the Gen III probably about a year from now, 12-18 months… My best guess is last quarter of 2015,” Musk said.

He then dialed in some more specifics: “We’ll move to clay model in maybe the middle of next year and the prototype maybe 6 months after that.” What that means for when you can drive one home is harder to say. Model X was shown publicly in February of last year and should reach consumers about 21-22 months after that. If the cheaper model is prototyped in early 2015, it might be for sale as soon as the end of 2016, in line with Musk’s prior commitment to deliver the car by 2016-17.

DEC6, 2013 news-Will Tesla Unveil Its Gen III Electric Car In 2015

Tesla chief designer Franz von Holzhausen indicates reveal of the 'affordable' electric car could come at Detroit Auto Show in 2015, a year from now.

Published: 16-Dec-2013

Franz comments seem to confirm this time frame. In his interview with AutoBuild, Franz said that Tesla will "probably" remove the wraps from its more affordable car at the 2015 Detroit auto show

 LA Times news quote-

The newest model 3 debuting in 2015 will be the third step, as its platform will differ significantly from anything else Tesla has built so far.

The plan for a mainstream model follows a strategy that Tesla Chief Executive Elon Musk laid out in a 2006 blog post.

“The strategy of Tesla is to enter at the high end of the market, where customers are prepared to pay a premium,” Musk wrote in a post titled “The Secret Tesla Motors Master Plan (just between you and me).” “Then drive down market as fast as possible to higher unit volume and lower prices with each successive model.”

Jan 2014 Detroit auto show news-

UPDATE: A Tesla insider at the Detroit Auto Show told IBTimes in an informal, off-the-record conversation: "It's hard to imagine that the Gen 3 wouldn't get 200 miles in range." He added that there might be a upgrade option similar to the Model S's 60 kWh battery (208 miles) and 85 kWh battery (265 miles) choices. Also, when asked if it's better to refer to the lower-cost Tesla electric car expected out in 2017 as the "Gen 3" or the "Model E" (a name Tesla trademarked last year) he said it's better to call it the "Gen 3" for now, implying that Tesla has not publicly confirmed the name of the vehicle.   (ED I say it still might be called the model 3)

*Jerome Guillen, Telsa Motors Inc. (NASDAQ:TSLA) head of global sales, wouldn’t say Tuesday what the range of the company’s planned lower-cost electric vehicle, dubbed the “Gen 3,” would be, but his answer indicated that it’s not likely to meet the same range expectation seen in the luxury Model S sedan.

“It will have a practical range,” he demurred, when asked by International Business Times during a question-and-answer session at the 2014 Detroit Auto Show, saying customers would be satisfied with what the company has planned for a $40,000 electric car, due out in 2017.

More news and guesses from FORBES article on the Name of the new GEN III. April 4 2014

While Tesla has seen success with the Model S, and plans to release the Model X this year, reducing battery costs is critical to its plans for a true mass-market car. According to Musk, the gigafactory will enable a reduction in battery and manufacturing costs that dramatically drives down the cost of electric vehicles. The Gen III (I hope they call it the Model T for Tesla) could sell for as low as $35,000 and be available for pre-order in 2017.

From the 2014 Stockholders meeting. June 3, 2014

And with Gen 3 with our third car, we're expecting that to be about a $35,000 car with a range in excess of 200 miles. But I should say that 35,000 it sounds a little affordable, but when you consider the savings from use of electricity versus gasoline in the U.S. that translates effectively to like a gasoline car of about maybe $28,000 or in Europe gasoline car of about $22,000 to $24,000. So actually the affordability of it should be to be quite high, I am very optimistic about that and we're going to try to make that third generation car happen as soon as we possibly can. Obviously the Gigafactory is pretty closer to the creation of that car, the volume production of that car. So, we're going to make sure that the Gigafactory and the tooling and development of that Gen 3 car move in-sync to market release and hopefully, so in sort of the late 2016 timeframe.

7/24/2014 Official name is now Model III

The Model 3 will be about 20% smaller than the Model S, and will have a range of around 200 miles (322 km), compared to 300 miles (483 km) for the 85 KWh version of the Model S. According to Tesla, much of the drop in price will come from using more cost-effective batteries. With that in mind, Tesla is planning to build a lithium-ion “Gigafactory” to be able to produce lithium-ion batteries at the scale and price needed to supply hundreds of thousands of affordable electric cars per year.

There are no images of the Model 3 design available yet. All going well, the design of the Model 3 will be revealed in 2016, and sales will begin in 2017. At that price, will it be an electric car you might consider buying?

Nov 2014, the model X is delays about 2 months, until 2nd quarter 2015. I hope it doesn't mean the GEN III will be delayed from 2016 ? We will see. GM and VW and Nissan all say they can and will also make a 200+ mile range EV in 2016. EVeryday the GEN III and new battery plant are closer to ready!

December 2014, Nissan, BMW, FORD and GM all say they can build a 200 plus mile EV. Sure I say but who will? and who has a Nationwide Super Charger FREE network. It now have over 140 locations and will have about 300 by the end of 2016 or more.

DEC 23,  2014 , a new break though in Aluminum could allow the GEN III to be made of it so it's lighter and more efficient just like the S.

Read http://evannex.com/blogs/news/16343436-unexpected-breakthrough-may-expedite-advances-for-tesla

However, this week, there is exciting news that might help accelerate progress for Tesla and its  Model 3. And, it has nothing to do with battery advances. It has to do with… aluminum. Huh? That’s right. Tesla is one of the few car companies that uses a (virtually) all-aluminum chassis in it’s construction of the Model S.

According to Design News, Alcoa’s new patented “Micromill” process will yield an alloy made for automotive applications which is 40% more formable and 30% stronger than the aluminum alloys being used in automotive applications today while also retaining the necessary surface quality for exterior panels. More formability means the material will be easier to shape into complex forms, such as fenders and inside door panels, usually manufactured in steel. More strength also means better resistance to dents and therefore thinner, lighter automotive sheet. Compared to high-strength steel, the new alloy is twice as formable and 30% lighter.

Today Dec 26th 2014 Tesla announced the Roadster upgrade to 400 mile range on a charge. That shows a 200 mile range is very possible today let alone 2016 when the GEN III comes out.

DEC 2014 NOTE= Tony Williams   December 26, 2014 at 9:16 pm  Just to follow up, the Model 3 will not use the same 18650 cell format, but instead will physically be 10% larger.

Tesla wakes up automakers- GM has now announced they will make a 200 mile per charge EV called the BOLT in 2017. We will see.

200-Mile, $30,000 Electric Chevrolet Bolt To Debut Monday At 2015 NAIAS

Jan 14,2015    Elon Musk announced yesterday that the upcoming Model 3 would be priced at $35,000 before any incentives. This is a tall order and I am skeptical if Musk can actually deliver, but if he does, he will drop a bomb on the highly competitive entry level luxury lease market. The Model 3 may even be the cheapest luxury car you can lease.

 Jan 19th, 2015

Why hasn’t the Nissan LE been given the production nod?  Word is that Infiniti is waiting for the next-generation battery technology that we’ll find in the upcoming 2017 Nissan LEAF.  That LEAF is expected to double the range of the current LEAF.  We believe that the Infiniti LE will launch just prior to the next-generation LEAF.  So, late 2016 sounds right to us, just in time to beat the Tesla Model 3 to market and to challenge it on all fronts.

Latest Elon Musk GEN III interview.  January 25th, 2015 by

Elon Musk recently made a number of interesting comments at the Detroit Automotive World Congress (aka “Detroit Auto Show”). Amongst all of his comments, though, was one that really stands out in my mind — “I really want the Model III to be different, not just a smaller Model S.”

here were a number of other interesting comments made during the interview that are worth noting. Here are some of them:

  • Still speaking about the appearance of the Model 3: “Really way different than any other car on the road that’s really useful, not just a weird-mobile.”
  • Model 3: “When I say $35,000, I’m talking (about) without any credits.”
  • Speaking on the subject of potentially opening a factory in Detroit: “Maybe Michigan should stop prohibiting us from selling cars here. That would be a nice first gesture.”
  • Opening up the Supercharger network to non-Tesla EVs: “We’re happy to have other carmakers use that Supercharger network.”

The comment was also recently made that the final production form of the Model X would be showcased sometime this summer — and, interestingly, that it will possess features that nobody outside of Tesla knows about.

SUPER CHARGER for GEM III confirmed July 2015.  QUOTE=http://www.greencarreports.com/news

Musk does confirm a few details that had already emerged from Tesla, regarding the new Model III.

It's going to be based on an all-new platform, for a start, and will be about 20 percent smaller than the Model S.  A "realistic range" of over 200 miles is also planned, and the car will have "strong performance" and batteries produced in the firm's upcoming battery Gigafactory--which should help keep the price of the new model down to Musk's target of around $35,000.

Owners will be able to use the company's Supercharger network for free, just as they can with Tesla's more expensive models.

More News SA breaking news 2/12/2015 Tesla Motors (NASDAQ:TSLA) CEO Elon Musk indicated during the firm's conference call last night that the Model 3 should be in production by the second half of 2017.

And note the “Model 3″ will actually be rendered as “Model ≡” (see the picture at the top of the article) with the “≡” looking like the “E” in the “Tesla” logo. So they’re getting their “S ≡ X” that way. So -that- is why they chose to call it the “Model 3″; it has nothing to do with BMW

Tesla Model III video news, no prototype yet.   https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=YqBDMJOnePo

April 2014 =All as planned: Tesla says it is on track with all major projects scheduled for this year. Among them is the Model X that got previously postponed but will make it to the market this year, according to the EV maker. The Tesla Model 3 is still set for 2017.

Inside EVs notes April 2015=

Though completion of the alpha prototype may be behind schedule, Tesla’s track record shows that there’s still plenty of time to ready the Model 3 for 2017 launch.  As The Wall Street Journal explains:

“Tesla Motors still has more than 30 months to launch the car in order to meet its target for launching the Model 3…”

“In its proxy statement filed in 2012, Tesla said it completed the so-called alpha prototype of the Model S sedan in December 2010, or less than 20 months before the first delivery of the car in June of 2012. The alpha model was described as an “engineering prototype” and it was approved by the board one month after it was completed.”

“The company then finished its “beta” prototype—described as a validation prototype—in October 2011, about nine months before the sales launch.”

So, the Model 3 could still arrive in 2017, though we suspect it will only be in limited production at that point in time.

Model 3 From Yahoo tech and Mush Earnings review May 2015

During Tesla’s earnings conference call on Wednesday, Elon Musk finally disclosed when Tesla plans to reveal what the highly anticipated Tesla Model 3 will look like. What’s more, Musk at long last gave us a launch window (read: year) that, we can only hope, won’t be subject to change in the months ahead.According to Musk, Tesla will take wraps off the Model 3 sometime in March of 2016.  Model 3 will be about 20% smaller than the Model S.As for a launch window, Musk said that Tesla will be releasing the car in 2017. He did qualify that statement, however, in saying that a launch window in late 2017 is more likely.

May 2015- No delays on Model 3 =

“We got quite adventurous with the Model X. We won’t go super crazy with the design of the initial version of the Model 3.”

Says Tesla CEO Elon Musk, adding that the Model 3 is all about “super high volume” and less about excitement, meaning delays will not be tolerated. The release date is set for spring 2016, with Model 3 deliveries starting one year later.

June 2015-DELAYS Oh NO- http://insideevs.com/tesla-motors-model-3-pushed-back-2018/

According to an official Tesla document, the upcoming $35,000 Tesla Model 3 has been delayed.

Tesla had long promised that the 200-plus mile Model 3 would arrive at least in limited production in late 2017, but now (via an official Tesla Motors slide presentation released at the 2015 EIA Conference on June 15 in Washington, D.C.) we’ve learned that the Model 3 is now “planned for 2018.”

Tesla Motors says it will unveil the 200-mile, $35,000 Model 3 electric car next year, ahead of a production start presently scheduled for 2017.

The new sedan is a key part of Tesla's plan to build 500,000 cars per year by 2020.

But while Tesla has already revealed the car's target price and range, it hasn't revealed anything about what the Model 3 will look like.

A burning desire for any advance information about the Model 3 caused a few members of the Tesla Motors Club forum to flag a recent video profile of Tesla CEO Elon Musk, which ran on the Australian version of 60 Minutes.

A portion of the interview shot in the Tesla design studio shows several cars covered by sheets to hide them from prying eyes.

Sept 2 nd 2015 = Musk Preoders start soon for model 3

October 2015 updates on Model 3 per Musk

As far as the Model 3 goes, Musk relayed that Tesla’s electric car for the masses will be formally unveiled in March of 2016, whereupon the company will begin taking pre-orders. And if pre-orders for the Model S and Model X are any indication, it’s a safe bet that the Tesla Model 3 — sized at about 20% of the Model S — is poised to be a runaway hit. Price-wise, Musk reiterated a price point he’s trotted out before, namely that the base price on the Model 3 will check in at $35,000. Production will begin in two years time after the Gigafactory is fully operational before kicking off Model 3 production. As to the Model X, Tesla’s upcoming SUV was on the receiving end of some criticism recently after word spread that the base model Signature Series edition of the Model X starts at $132,000. Via Twitter, Musk clarified that Model X pricing, generally speaking, will only cost about $5,000 more than a corresponding Model S. “With same options, Model X is $5k more than an S due to greater size & body complexity,” Musk explained. “Sig Series is fully loaded, hence high price.” https://www.yahoo.com/tech/s/elon-musk-spillsdetails-most-affordable-tesla-ever-213528744. html?soc_src=mail&soc_trk=ma&nf=1 In accordance with Title 17 U.S.C.  Long-Range Tesla Model 3 Likely Has Range Of 334 Miles, But Window Sticker Says Less

Posted: 21 Sep 2017 08:07 AM PDT

Apparently, Tesla is under-reporting its range despite EPA calculations, however, this wouldn’t be the first time. Since the Tesla Model 3 was officially put into production and revealed, the automaker has stood behind a 220-mile range for the base model and 310 miles (really 330) for the Long Range variant (which is...
Oct 2017, In Sept only about 220 Model 3 were made.  Just a few parts have been holding up faster production.
